Garages and their legal duties

With regards to statutory examination If you are an owner of a garage and employ staff  you have a legal requirement to comply with the following regulations:


Regulation 9 of  The Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations 1998 (LOLER) 

Under this regulation you are required to have the following equipment examined:


Road Vehicle Lifts

Small Lifting Machine

Lifting Accessories


This is sometimes referred to as LOLER testing.


Regulation 8 & Regulation 9 of  The Pressure Systems Safety Regulations 2000 (PSSR

Under these regulations you are required to have the following equipment Examined:


 Compressed Air System


Regulation 9 of  The Control of Substances Hazardous to Health Regulations 2002 (COSHH)

Under this regulation you are required to have the following equipment examined:


Spray Rooms

Spray Booths

Engine Exhaust Extraction system 


Regulation 6  of  The Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998 (PUWER)

Under this regulation you may be required to have some of your work equipment inspected by a competent person, This may include:


Axle Stands

Pallet Trucks
